Last month I posted about the shock I had when my Mother, who had previously been taking the weight-loss drug Zenical, was advised by the nurse who had been monitoring her to consider going on the Atkins diet instead.

I downloaded lots of information from the Atkins site for her, and at the beginning of September she started on induction. Two weeks in, she's lost 7 pounds and around 5 years The nurse's reaction yesterday? "Well done, keep going"

Sometimes I envy my Mother ...

Aww Sylvia that's fantastic news! How wonderful your mother has such an open minded nurse to help her... and brilliant she's doing so well!

It can feel like some kind of miracle cure if you've been ill or out of condition for a while can't it?!

That is great news about your Mum. I hope that you are giving her all your support.

You do not have that much to lose, so your own progress will be slower now. I expect that you Mum has more to lose and hence her initial weight loss may well be quicker. However, you are both heading towards your common goal.
