I usually grab some string cheese, eggs, nuts, or some grilled chicken. The key is having all these on hand and ready when you have to run.

Most of those quick food stops sell macadamia nuts now. They're really expensive (of course) but good when you're in a pinch. I've also found bags of roasted almonds. If they have a dairy/deli case you can usually find sliced turkey and/or cheese. And once I was even desperate enough to buy a slim jim (ugh!).

I work in sales, on the road 4 days a week. I like to carry a 911 supply, nuts or advantage bar - if I've forgotten them I'll stop at McDonalds for a 1/4 lb w/ cheese and just eat the burger and leave the bun off.

If I'm pushed for time in the morning (rarely thank goodness) I'll go through a fast food drive thru and get a breakfast bun, just ditch the bun. It's useally an egg, cheese and bacon.

For a fast snack later in the day, stop at a food store, from the deli, get a nice thick slice of roasted turkey or chicken and just one slice of fancy cheese, I just roll them up together, great filling snack.
I always have a little zip lock bag of almonds in my purse, they are a great thing to have in a pinch. Kathy

Couple things. Of course there is always the quick drive thru approach.

Otherwise, I like vienna sausages, either plain, or hot sauce on them, they even have jalepeno flavored ones. Also, 4 packs of those pull tab tuna cans. I like it with hot sauce too, but I also keep extra lil packets of mayo around for travel. I like sardines too with hot sauce, good oils too..oh and canned oysters.

I understand also a lot of the things I listed are in moderation due to the gout issue.
