Default weight scales

okay.
I'm tired of seeing my scales go up or down every time I get on them (I mean, if I get on and off 4-5 times in a row),
What scales are the best? and Most Consistent? I'm guessing the so-called beam scales used in doctor's offices????
Is there a place to buy these cheaply? A google search has plenty in the $199 PLUS range but that is a little steep for my taste - I'd rather buy better quality steaks..............

Whoa - that's a crappy scale you have. My scale is quite accurate. It's Health-o-Meter brand, and it was a cheapy from WalMart, if I remember correctly. Go figure.

Default so's mine a Healthometer

and it seems to vary depending on how exactly I place my feet. and whether I am leaning a little forward or a little backward.
It's a real pain trying to remember which way exactly I placed my feet the last time.
It's about 18 years old or so.....I'm wondering if the springs are shot or something.......though I haven't been using them for many years until going on Atkins in April............I had stopped caring about what I weighed since I wasn't trying to do anything about it.
It may also have something to do with the fact these are the ones they make that go to 320 lbs and most of the time I have used them I have been right at the highest end of their capacity.

I have a Health-o-Meter also, and have had great luck with it. The one I bought is here at drugstore.com . At the time I bought it because it was the cheapest one I could find that went to 400lbs.. And that did not even handle me when I first got it. I have had it for over a year now and it is very consitent.

well, I decided it must be the fact it was spring-based and pretty old so I went to WalMart and just bought a lithium battery digital.........It is also a Healthometer but has a 10-year warranty and I'm saving the paperwork so the suckers can have it back if anything goes wrong.

You might also want to make sure that when you are weighing yourself it is on the level part of the floor and not like by the tub for instance. My scale is sensitive like that, go figure

I was just commenting about this in my journal! My scale (a health-o-meter, and not the cheapest one) gives me back-to-back-to-back weights within a +/- 1.5 lb range. I call fixating on these variances (as I do) Scale Awareness Disorder (SAD). Go figure.

I got a scale I believe Viacom or something like that Its digital and I bought it at Walmart for less than 50$...Its very consistant

i can't fool that scale into to telling me a lower number no matter what I do...LOL I move it I step on it different as long as its back to back weighing they are consistant.....and as long as I am on a level surface...my bathroom floor is not level so i weigh in the living room ...with the shades pulled of course

Do you all have a digital or dial scale? I've always had problems with digital scales breaking down on me. I bought the digital health-o-meter scale about 2 weeks ago and after a day the scale starting acting crazy telling me i was 70Ibs one minute and the next minute I was 130Ibs. I exchanged it for a health-o-meter dial scale which I haven't had a problem

Hiya

I have a tanita digital scale - seems very consistent and reliable in terms of weight.
It does bodyfat measurements too, but I don't really get how that works Since in the morning when I'm at my lowest weight, my BF is around 35, and in the evening when I'm at my highest it's around 30... who knows?

I would stick to the Health O Meter...from Walmart for about $35 dollars. It seems to be working well for me....

Sinbad - At your heaviest in the evening you have water weight on you. Water shows up as lean tissue -- not fat -- therefore your percentage goes down! Everything that is not fat -- water, muscle, bone -- all shows up as LBM -- lean body mass.

Default the ultimate solution:-)

I lost 35 lbs easily by consistency using a $4.99 Target scale :-)
The inaccuracy of this scale helped me a lot, by playing down the importancy of weighting... I use it once every month, always placing it to the same spot in my bathroom, and stepping onto the same place on it.
(My doctor's professional scale was the control, showing the same 35 lbs loss:-)

I recently purchased a Tanita UltimateScale 2001 for $39.99 at Linens 'N Things. It is very accurate and gives a consistent reading. The body fat measurement feature is also a plus!

Default Those dreaded scales!

I first purchased a Tanita scale. I thought this is great! Now I know that it is not accurate on body fat percentage and for some odd reason it is not working properly. I step on it and I weigh like 152, then back on and weigh 137 hmmm something is wrong. Yes i'm on level ground. It seems that if you lean forward or backward too much it changes. So I got real upset at it and purchased a beam scale. I can't seem to get a correct weight back to back on this either. such a bummer as it was an expensive scale too. I really would like to see how much I weigh. lol
