Default Pork Rinds????????

Can somebody explain to me why the only pork rinds I could find in a major supermarket had tons of carbs........while the ones I just ordered for the first time from some place in OK have zero carbs?
The ones I ordered say microwave pork rinds....but why would that make any difference?
I kept seeing people on this board refer to pork rind snacks so I just had to try them. Normally, I can content myself with a slice or two of cheese, or bacon, or some olives if need be. The olives I have been eating are probably all wrong- Kalamatas in oil - but boy, are they tasty compared to regular old canned olives. They have a nice salty zing to them.

Pork rinds, like many things, have tons of things added to them and the carbs depends on what's added. You'll find a similar story when you look for beef jerky or sausage - some have less than one carb per serving and others have ten or more.

Default what you add????

I guess that makes sense but the place I ordered from:
http://www.microwaveporkrinds.com/en-us/dept_1.html
claims that their's have no carbs and yet they have several flavors.
I've decided to see what's up with them anyways but it left me puzzled. I tried a health foods store at a mall and it had very little low carb stuff which really surprised me.....mostly vitamins and crap.

Not all flavorings add carbs. Generally what adds the carbs to products like this is if they add sugar.

As for "health food" stores - the vast majority of them are properly called "latest crazy fad food" stores. Don't count on finding a whole of lot good stuff there (but you can find some) and don't expect to get any reliable advice about anything.

There are many supermarket brands that are carb-free. I'm just curious as to what brand you have and the ingredients so I can be on the lookout.

The only thing I didn't like about the microwave pork rinds was the smell. I'm not WILD about pork rinds in the first place, so the smell was a bit overpowering. Once they "aired out" they tasted fine. Also.. be REALLY careful not to burn them, or it's a LOT worse.

I prefer a brand called Porkies. They are mild-flavored in the plain, and the nacho kind are actually GOOD right from the bag!
