Post Hands on Constipation Help

I get a daily natural health ezine that today had this little tidbit. I thought I would share with everyone else. Good Luck!

Hands-On Constipation Help

This technique is about 3000 years old or so and
comes
from Chinese acupuncture sources. Note that it is
not
recommended for pregnant women!

The next time someone asks for help with
constipation,
tell them to find on either hand the flap of soft
tissue
between thumb and forefinger. Use the other hand,
with
thumb on the top, as a "pincer" to feel around
this
triangle of flesh, pressing until you find a
point that
sends a jolt like an electric shock up the arm to
the
elbow.

Once you find this point, press down hard for
five
seconds and release for five seconds. Repeat
three times.

This technique can be used two to three times a
day for
severe cases, though usually that many
repetitions won't
be needed.

Don't test this one on a state highway, 50 miles
from the
nearest rest stop or your spouse will be looking
through
brochures for rest homes with full nursing
facilities.

I figure anythings worth a shot, and if it does work and requires no chemicals, so much the better

I find a very strong cup of either coffee, tea or green tea followed by a LARGE portion of water always makes me run to the bathroom, regardless of fiber intake.

That is a great tip, I will have to try it!!

ROFLMAO - I agree with lady belle, I have used that one for headaches as well. Maybe that is a cure all pressure point. I have however found flaxseed oil (capsules) for me to work well.

Hi LadyBelle - I don't know if we are thinking of the same headache trick - I learned one that is from reflexology - press the thumb of your right hand into the middle of the palm of the left hand - this really works although the headache resumes when the pressure is released.

I saw a woman on TV last night doing something called "sex yoga" supposedly you can control almost anything with it - she claimed you can adjust your menstrual cycle and use this as either a birth control technique OR a way to increase chances of conception - no doubt she has a position for constipation relief too

WOW- I wonder what size population is using this method?????

I looked in my reflexology book and it suggested:

"... after a full reflexology treatment on feet, with added attention to the small intestine and colon reflex area. Along with a few nutritional tips, ... I also gave him some herb-lax to help break up the bulk." The author also suggests sauerkraut (on MY menu this evening). Reflex points on the feet for colon are towards your heel opposite the instep.

that link will take you to an interactive foot reflex chart to show you exactly were to massage.

Ahh, Atriana, yes I can! I was having some very peculiar images flying through my mind as I waited for the page to come up. LOL How very disappointing to find it was nothing more exotic than accupressure applied to the hand. <sigh> I was hoping for something that would make for more of a chuckle.

I'm easily amused, eh?

Ever notice how many lo-carb discussion threads are like a Volkswagen ad? We like to talk about how we're 'farfrompoopin'.

I tried taking metamucil, but that didn't seem to help really. I broke down and tried what used to be a surething for me and eat a bowl of oatmeal. I even put flaxseed in it and nothing. I was bummed cause I ate oatmeal for almost nothing. Since it's summer I have been having an ear of corn about once a week and THAT seems to work for me.
