Cool How accurate is Fitday?

Hi, this is the first time I'm putting up a message in this forum.
I must say, this forum has been a great help to me, even just by reading.
(Thank you to everyone

I don't have much to lose, but I have a huge carb addict problem I've been battling for years (I binge on chips & crackers).
I'm trying to break this bad habit by going on Atkins.

So far so good, I've been on and off induction and have not lost much weight (maybe 2 lbs or so), but I've noticed my binge has been under much better control.

My question to you is, has anyone else experienced a discrepancy between Fitday and the nutritional content listed on the food package?
Sometimes, Fitday lists a much higher carb content than what's stated on the products' package.

Thanks.
:Happy low carbing:

If it doesn't caculate properly you may have to enter it as a specialty item. I once put in 2 slices of bacon that according to the package had 80 calories, etc. and Fitday put it in as 430! Big difference.

Hi there Lori H, thank you for the quick reply!
80 cal vs 430, that is a HUGE difference. The food I had said 0 carb on the package and 30 carbs on fitday! Very tempting to go with the package info, Congratulations on being cheatfree for 60 days

I believe Fitday doesn't subtract the fiber content either, so that may account for some of it.

I agree, sometimes you have to make a custom entry and it saves it for you, so if you eat that item again, it is easy to find and add in. More work though.

I am also new to the forum--I use Fitday and have noticed the same thing-classically with the carb content. I use the custom food sometimes, but it can be a lot of work. Usually, though I leave the additional carb content in there--I'd rather eat 15g believing it's 20, than underestimate the carbs--keeps me on track.

Fitday doesn't exactly subtract the fiber, but you can look at the top center of the page and it'll have the carb breakdown for the day.

You have to be careful how you enter some of your items - for example, always add eggs as hard-boiled, no matter how you really cooked them. If you try to enter scrambled eggs, it includes milk added!

Many other fitday tips can be found here. Enjoy!
