Hello fellow LCer's
Wanted to say hello and good luck to all of you. Are any of you monitoring your keytone levels with the ketostix or the glucose/keytone combine strips? I am, and it can get discouraging, but I may have found something out that may or may not be news to some of you.
I am doing the Atkins diet. So for the first 2 weeks, I lost 19 lbs. THe keytone levels in my urine were at the maximum level (darkest area on the scale). Then, all of a sudden, without change in intake and diet, the went to 0. I panicked. I thought for sure something was wrong. So I read my New Atkins Revolution book and found a section regarding vitamin supplementation. I started taking a daily vitamin, making sure I had Vitamins A, B, D, E and K. When I did that, the next measurement 24 hours later was back where i wanted it to be...in the moderate to heavy keytone level category.
TAKE YOUR VITAMINS! But also, I take a bag of summer sausage nd cheese to eat throughout the day. I eat 5 small meals, all Atkins approved and find that my success is GREATER than eating 3 meals a day. I am not hungry, really, EVER, because my body is burning through the food I eat rather quickly.
Enough rambling, just wanted to share information about the vitamins.
