Question No color on the K-stix...

I'm one week into Induction and I peed on my first k-stick this weekend - no change in color! I've lost 2-3# and have been 100% into Induction - no cheats at all!

Are you suppose to pee right on the stick or dip it in a cup? Certain time of day to test? Before or after eating?

My mom's didn't turn color either. Could we have a bad batch of k-stix??

Talking hi wannabethin!

Click on "Tips" on the red menu bar at the top of the page. Read the article Ketosis and Ketone Test Strips to find out everything you ever wanted to know about the stix, how ketosis works, and why the stix are or aren't turning.

Sounds like you're doing just fine. Don't get hung up on the sticks, they're just a guide.

Question Another K-stix question

I have also heard that using K-stix aren't really nexessary. I wasn't planning in using them. Is this a bad idea?

hi Kat,

No, the sticks are not necessary. They have no effect on the diet whatsoever, they are merely one of several tools one can use to indicate if you're on the right track. Many lowcarbers never use them, and lose fat and inches just fine. Far too many lowcarbers become obsessed with the sticks, whether they are or aren't "turning" or trying to get a darker shade of pink or purple. The weight on the scales, your shrinking measurements with the tape, clothes getting looser, increased energy and well-being ..... these are all superiour indicators of lowcarb success, in my opinion.

Default Thanks Doreen!

K-stix don't sound like a necessity, so I won't buy them.

Thanks for the tip.

Cool Thanks Doreen

Great article - makes sense. I do drink 120-150 oz. of H2O per day so that could be it - or nothing at all! I'd rather hear my family tell me that my face looks slimmer than have the stick turn purple anyway!
