Question Already small, should I limit fat intake?

Hi! I was just wondering if, seeing as though I'm already a small person, if I should limit my fat intake. I read in the Protein Power book that If you are already a small person, you should... but they did not specify what would happen if I did not.

Also, I'm about 115 right now, will low carb actually help me lose more weight, or would I need to switch to maintanance level of carbs (50?) in order to maintain my weight and not lose any more. My goal is to lose body fat, will I be able to still do that at my weight while low carbing?

Thanks to anyone who can explain this to me.

Jessica

Hi Jessica. I don't think you necessarily have to limit your fat intake. In fact, I'd suggest not to. You really need healthy fats to survive and you will fill up better while eating them. You don't have to go ALL OUT on fat, but at least a bit of olive oil, salad dressing, or mayo a day is quite good for you.

As for the body fat, my number one suggestion is: Weight Train! You will get toned and feel great if you get on a muscle building regimen. I love the Body for Life program myself. Check it out.

Honestly, I don't think someone as small as you are can lose body fat with low carbing alone. I'd suggest a balanced diet (by that I mean lots of protein, veggies, and fats) and good old fashioned sweat and tears. The adequate levels of protein will help you build muscle and you may find that you look better without losing any weight at all.

Good luck!

Smile I'm with angela..

I agree with Angela on this... LC works great, but it works better with exercise! We all know that "low fat" is not the answer. Essential fats are necessary for everyone. Just stay away from the dreaded "trans-fats" and "saturated fats". They're the nasties that cause heart disease. Matter O fact... the FDA(?) is passing a law that requires food manufacturers to start labeling trans-fats on their labels. We should see this everywhere in the next couple years.
