Default Don't recognize my own face!

Hi All,
I had a strange experience this morning. I was brushing my teeth and when I looked up into the mirror.....I was startled that I did not recognize myself. My face has slimmed down quite a bit and my eyes popped open a little wider and I backed up and took a good long look at ME!!!!! It REALLY WAS ME with a slimmer face. Very strange. Has this happened to anyone else?

Congratulations on the super success! I try hard not to look at my face (only you folx have to do it!), but I have noticed my face is the 1st place that showed weight loss. My wife says it was my brain that lost first. Thankfully she did not mention other body parts.

Kathryn,

That is so cool!!! I haven't lost enough to really tell, but yesterday I was in the bathroom at work washing my hands. I looked up before I left and had to do a double take. My cheeks are just a little bit smaller. At least I think they are. I looked different!

Too funny MisterE ...you caused me to spit tea at my brand new flat screen!!

Alighterme, that's got to be a wonderful kind of shock...I'm so happy for you. I had the reverse happen to me. One day I looked in the mirror and saw my face was fat! Hopefully, I'll be having an experience like yours soon.

I don't even look in mirrors if I can avoid them.

I can hardly wait to see my face thin out!!

Good luck, and keep going!

I find that I have to continuously adjust my perception of what I look like and where I will fit. It gets kind of scary sometimes.

aneredac,
I was unaware that I had even started to lose any weight until a friend noticed my face had started to slim down. I went into the restroom and looked at my self in the mirror and took a long look and the person staring back at me. Then I saw it too. The next day I had a customer at work that was a regular ask me if I had lost any weight because my face was starting to slim down a bit. I felt really good for the rest of the week! Don't get discouraged, hang in there and you will see it too!

vegasman: youve made an excellent decision to start this WOE!!!

I cant tell you how much more energy I have.. and above that how much determination i have gained from seeing results (YES i can REALLY do this!!)

I can now ride a bike 4 miles.. take a 3 mile hike through the mountains without feeling like an heart attack is coming on.. and sleep six or eight hours instead of 12!!

I have a way to go to get to my goal.. but the journey is going great.. unlike 'diets' ive been on where i feel groggy and sleepy.. out of energy and totally depressed with the results.. I LOVE this way of eating!! and i KNOW its something i can do for the rest of my life (unlike those nasty 'shake' programs and high carb low fat where i was STARVING all the time)

hope you find some encouragement and help in these boards.. you wont believe the amount of advice you can take from here.. and how many friends you will gain

best wishes to you!!!

Default Me Too!

The first place I noticed something different was my face. Less than one week after starting induction, I noticed that the puffiness on my cheekbones was really diminished. My eyes seemed more open, and in a way, I look younger. For me, I know this change was water weight, since it happened so fast. I never thought of myself as bloated, no typical symptoms of water retention, but I really noticed a difference when changing over to this way of life.

This could have something to do with the fact that I went from getting all my liquid from Coke to drinking 1 gallon of water everyday!

Wish that would happen here! Usually the first place I lose is in my face, and I can usually tell pretty quickly and others notice too. With this low carb thing, though, it's not working out that way. I'm losing in my waist and hips...but NOTHING in the face. Rats! But congrats to you!
