Smile extra energy - what do you do with it?

All that extra energy you have on Atkins - hasn't it added hours to your day? What do you do?

Have you added new activities? volunteer work/classes/what?

DH and I tried the Zone about two years ago. We couldn't stand to be on it longer than a couple weeks. We didn't realize how much we hated our jobs, and the stress of them - until we stopped covering it up with lots of eating out and drinking. Suddenly alert for hours - we didn't know what to do! Those two weekends, we worked out twice each day - weren't sure what to do!

On Atkins, we're filling our time with a couple new things, but these are getting to be old:
1. Cleaning the house (much cleaner now!)
2. Shopping for fresh meat and spices to cook with
3. Cooking new recipes (we used to throw something together in 5 minutes - now we cook tons of things in advance, marinate things, and even chop things we couldn't identify before - like Cilantro)
4. Taking a short walk in the evening after dinner (usually to the grocery store for something else we forgot)

When DH and I saw his sons in NY last week - they said - what do you do for fun? DH answered "diet!" By which he meant all the cooking, prep, etc. Again, which is fun now - but aging fast in interest!

I'd like ideas - plus I'm curious what you all have found yourself doing that's new.

hi c-cat
i know what you mean by having extra energy. when i first started l-c i felt like a caged lion. i tried cleaning the house, decorating, going for long walks and i joined a gym.
this helped in the beginning but i always felt that i had to be doing something.
these feelings have settled down now.i still keep up the exercise but i like to cook more, trying out new recipes, and i read every l-c book that i can get my hands on.
i also bought a computer.this has been a godsend, it keeps me entertained(especially this site) and stops my mind from wandering to the fridge. i still can,t just sit and watch the tv-it,s just too boring.

Since I have an abundence of energy,...especially in a.m. ... I get up early get the house clean and probably do more before 7am than most people I know. I also exercise...every morning...for at least 20 mins or more (if I go to CURVES).

Even with all the extra energy I can't keep up with all there is to do. But I get more done than before.

I'm treasurer for our volunteer ambulance service, which means I do all the billing, etc. It takes a lot of time. I teach 2 Bible studies a week, volunteer at our local thrift store, take elderly neighbors to the doctor, and am trying to finish a quilt for a charity auction in December. I have a big, old house that constantly needs attention and a big yard with lots of flower beds to weed. And there are always friends and neighbors who need help with something. I have enough energy, but not enough hours.

Um..... I agree with that one! But I've been hesitant to log the, um, exercise in Fitday. Thought it would be too much like bragging.....

I spend most of my energy on figuring out something creative to eat for my next meal so I'm not bored to death.

Ohhhh.......and while I'm cooking, eating, sleeping, etc etc. I think about what Arie said....BAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAA

What a great energy burner!!!

Sex --- I wish. My libido lessened since I lost weight. One adverse affect of LCing --- for me.
