I did not intend anything “hateful” in my remark, though I concede that the satire I made of your position was a bit biting.
I was merely trying to say that mixing religious myths with science (as you were doing by invoking Methuselah) is not good science. (It is not good religion, either, because it implies that religious beliefs can be subject to scientific review – they cannot be without undermining religious authority.)
Science deals only with things that can be verified in the real world. Religious faith deals with things that by definition CANNOT be verified in the real world.
There is no scientific evidence that anyone has ever lived to the ages proclaimed for Methuselah. Indeed, the evidence suggests human lifespans were, on average, well under 30 years until comparatively recently.
