Default How do you find NET Carbs? - Please help!

I was at the store today and saw Breyers Ice Cream - no sugar added. It still had 3g of sugar though... it also had malitol and some other sugar alcohols. How do you find the net carbs in something like this? I also saw fudgsicles - no sugar added and they were only 10 g carbs but also had a bunch of sugar alcohols. So if anyone knows how to find out how many net carbs, please let me know!

Subtract the number of malitol/sugar alcohols and dietary fiber from the carb count. Say if the product had 10 grams of carbs and had 6 grams of sugar alcohol and 1 gram of dietary fiber it would have a NET Carb of 3.

I know that, but it doesnt have all of the sugar alcohols listed, they are only in the ingredients. Like in the atkins bars as well?

The sugar grams are the net grams. Therefor there is 3 net grams of carbohydrates. My guess for the type of sugar would be lactose.

The amount of maltitol is listed on these products.

Nutrition for Breyer's No Sugar Added Vanilla for instance is:
Serving Size 1/2 cup
Total Carbohydrates 15g
Dietary Fiber 0g
Sugars 4g
Sugar Alcohol 3g
12 net carbs

Nutrition for Breyer's No Sugar Added Fudgesicles is:
Serving Size 2 Pops
Total Carbohydrates 19g
Dietary Fiber 1g
Sugars 3g
Sugar Alcohol 3g
So for 1 pop about 7 net carbs

These products also contain maltitol and aspartame, two known stallers, which also have dubious health records.

I would skip these if I were you. Lobby at your grocery store for Le Carb or make your own ice cream at home.

I found the LeCarb ice cream at Wal*Mart yesterday & it is absolutely delicious! The chocolate almond flavor has 6 carbs and 1 dietary fiber (5 net carbs), which was the best nutritional value label I found on all flavors. I thought for sure it would have an awkward "diet" taste but it was actually better than a lot of regular ice creams I have tried. So if there is a Wal*Mart SuperCenter close by, go there to find LeCarb. It really is delicious! They also have a website (www.lecarb.com) that lists all of the flavors.
