Unhappy Aspartame

How does aspartame effect you? I know we arent supposed to eat much of it but I made a low carb cheesecake with sugarfree Jello and everytime I have some I almost get sort of a sugar buzz, then I don't feel very well for a couple of hours. Is this all in my head? If not I'm off aspartame (Not sure if i'm spelling it right) for good.

i did not have this problem with aspartame in the past...but it is possible that you have it. it is an artificiale thing and there are not a lot of studies of its side effects...

haha that is the same reason I started the Sugar Twin thread. This morning I had a coffee with Sugar twin in it and I felt really weird afterwards.

Anxious like and sick.

This could be due to the fact I had not eaten this morning and coffee = sweetner made my body go into overdrive, because last night I had the same size cofee with the same amount of Twin and I didn't feel anything.

I believe aspartame is supposed to inhibit weight loss (according to Atkins). Those of you using it to sweeten your dishes and drinks should likely switch to Splenda. However, caffeine is also supposed to be an inhibitor and I have not experienced difficulty in losing weight (and I keep drinking my coffee)!

Thanks for your input guys. i think I'll stay away from it and see what happens I don't usually consume much of it and ususally do use splenda if only they would make sugar free jello and diet drinks with splenda. Oh wow that would be so great. Anyway here is the recipe if anyone wants it.

2 pkgs cream cheese softned (Philly has the fewest carbs)
1 C. cool whip
1/3 C. Splenda or 1 box of sugar free flavored Jello
1/2 C. Sour cream

1 1/2 C. Walnuts or other chopped fine
3 pkts splenda
3 T. Butter melted

Mix together chopped nuts, splenda, and melted butter. Press into bottom of pie tin. Then beat cream cheese and splenda till light and fluffy. fold in cool whip and sour cream. Pour into pie tin and chill.

I figure about 8 carbs per serving makes 6 servings.

I also just ordered some davinci syrups and can't wait to try flavoring it with them. Especially since I wont be using jello anylonger.
