Default Ketosis Questions

I have been using the sticks, mostly because I bought them as per Dr.Atkin's book and have noticed a few odd things.

One glass of dry red wine and I don't register anything on the sticks anymore, almost immediately. Clearly that knocks me out of ketosis. Yet I can eat 7-8 cherries with no change in color at all. It is still fairly dark.

Does this make sense? It doesn't to me.

Alcohol is turned into keotenes by the liver and used in preference to fat. It's kind of unusual to fall out of ketosis from alcohol because of that. Remember not to test right after eating or drinking as your body needs time to digest and break up the foods. Depending on what kind of wine your having there could be more carbs. Sweet wines have a higher carb count then dry ones.

I don't drink sweet wine, only dry red wine. It knocks me out of ketosis almost immediately but doesn't seem to make me gain weight and I am back in ketosis the next day.

On the other hand, a few cherries or strawberries don't seem to impact on my ketosis yet I am up 1 or 2 pounds the next day.

I don't understand the 'mechanics' of it or how/what is happening.

Alcohol knocks me out of Ketosis all the time. Also, I never check for ketosis after eating. I usually do it before dinner.

Alcohol suspends ketosis.....when the alcohol is burned off....ketosis resumes. Does not "knock you out" as if you were to eat a high carb food (like a piece of real chocolate). You see this because getting "back" into ketosis can take you 48 hours or more whereas the suspension gets you back as soon as alcohol burns off...usually a few hours.

BUT alcohol will slow down your fat burning....because each one of those "suspensions" sets you back a day.
