One ounce is 10-12 whole nuts. What you really should do is go out and get a cheap kitchen scale. After measuring things for the first couple of times you get good at eyeballing them. I think nessecities on any eating plan are

Kitchen scale
Measuring cups
Measuring spoons

I second LadyBelle's suggestion. A cheapo kitchen scale is invaluable for giving you accurate counts. As a bonus - I often find it allows me to eat more foods than guesstimating.

Re: nuts. Fitday says 1 ounce of macadamias is 11 nuts. I always get way more because my brand is more often in half pieces.

Also, as good as you think you get as estimating and guessing, it's so easy to be wrong. Especially during TOM. Carb creep can be a problem.

I know weighing is sometimes a pain, but it's worth it. Keep the scale handy on the counter and just pop your food in there before you put it on your plate.

Um do they taste better out of cookies? I just realized what I thought were macadamia nuts weren't, but the real ones well I had them in a cookie. I wasn't that thrilled with them.

Just a warning, all nuts are not created equal I get some HUGE ones here in bulk from one store then some shrimpy ones at another store.

I'm with Kaillean, et al, the scale is the way to go.

If you want some excellent macadamias, check out a brand called Mauna Loa. The come in a turquoise coloured resealable bag. I've bought them at Walmart. But watch out--it's really hard to each just a few!

Am I nuts? I thought I posted this in Atkins, it says it was moved here. I'm going to wait to get the macadamia nuts when I get the scale. Crossing my fingers that I like them!

I have been known to take a jar off the Wal Mart shelf and "snack" while shopping... and wound up paying for the empty jar a half hour later.

Be careful!! Macs are delicious and the lowest in the carbs I believe, of any nuts, but they are LOADED with calories which can REALLY make the difference in your fitday counts.
