Default Little bit of luxury

Hi Everyone,

I am British but live in France. Discovered something that is absolutely divine.

Take a pot of Creme Frais. Add artificial sweetner and the darkest unsweetened cocoa powder that you can find. Add both to taste and mix. Voila - Glorious chocolate mousse.

My latest thing is to keep a pot in the freezer at work. When passing the kitchen on the way back from the loo, I sneak a little spoonful - like very rich chocolate icecream. So, the more water I drink, the more little spoonfuls!! Life is good.

Liz

This sounds divine, almost to good to be true. I'll have to give it a try. Creme frais is v.expensive over here and v. hard to come by. ie have to drive to the other side of town to buy it. Oh well, the things we do! by the way what are you doing in France?

Seriously, I work here in the pharmaceutical industry. Been here for 4 years. Spent a few years in Denmark and North Carolina before that.

Never been to Australia....

You can make your own Creme Fraiche instead of buying it. This will be a lot cheaper and ingredients are easy to find.

Makes 1 cup

1/3 cup sour cream or buttermilk
2/3 cup heavy 35% cream

Combine ingredients in a clean glass jar, cover with plastic food wrap and rest overnight at room temperature for 24-36 hours, or until set. Drain any liquid that has separated; refrigerate when set.
Keeps well, refrigerated for up to 10 days.

Note: You would be better off making it with the sour cream as there is less carbs.
My carb caculations are: With the sour cream 5g
With the buttermilk 6.3g

Instead of making it into a sweet treat, you can also add things like chives, dill or feathery greens to make a dip for veggies or maybe fish.
