Default aspartme

I bought some splenda today from tesco's! Wow its finally here but all the diet drinks seem to have aspartme. Thats really how I get my sugar fix, does anyone know of any diet soda's or juices that don't have aspartme as reading through the threads a lot of people agree with atkins that it slows weightloss and is chemically unsafe.

I don't because I'm not in the UK now (will be next wek). I think it is more a question of reaction to aspartme. Some people react badly (headaches, no weight loss etc) while others seem to tolerate it.

I suffer it with no obvious ill effects - but I use saccharine for sweetening tea etc so this cuts down the total amount of aspartme I take in.

Thumbs up

Hi Renees

No, as yet I don't know any drinks that are now sweetned with aspartmene in the UK.

As Rob has said various people tolerate it to various amounts. I have a small amount every day, in fruit squash, and it has not harmed my weight loss. I'd encourage you to try to drink more water and replace some of those fizzy drinks as pure water is better for you.

Every success.

I noticed on the low carb megastore website they are now selling diet rite drinks which I think are sweetened with splenda - probably expensive though!

I sometimes make lemon compot. Chop up a lemon and boil it. Add saccharine to sweeten it. Result, a sort of natural aspartme free soft drink.
