Cool First time Atkins dieter....happy so far...what about you??

Hi Everyone:[COLOR=purple][COLOR=darkblue]

I started Akkins this last Tuesday and I love the results so far. I've lost approx. 4 lbs. in 4 days. This is scary!! I'm trying to stick with Induction but I have not been diligent with counting my Carbs. However, I purchased the Ketosis sticks and after testing this morning I found out that I was burning fat!!

What a pleasant surprise. Are you journaling to help you count your carbs or are you just keeping count in your head or only eating low carb foods in the Acceptable Foods list. I have found that it has been difficult eating just what is listed. Has anyone else found it difficult sticking to the Acceptable Foods list?

The caffeine was a big one for me. I was drinking a Starbucks coffee every day. Now, I have started drinking decaf. I must admit that I have been doing ok without the caffeine. My biggest sugar withdrawl symptom has been dizziness, sleepiness, and light-headed which I still feel. Although it seems to be getting better as each day ends.

The best part has to be the way my clothes are fitting . I actually tucked my shirt in my pants this morning and wore a belt.

Has anyone been extra thirsty?? I have been drinking at least 8 glasses of water since I started. I found that I have been extra thirsty.

Also, can anyone tell me about the Atkins shakes, are they any good??[FONT=arial]

Glad to hear you are liking Atkins so far but remember, be patient with your weightloss... I don't mean to sound so negative but most of us lost a lot during Induction and then tapered off BUT it will keep coming off if you follow the plan... ;-)

I have been using www.fitday.com to track my food intake, you should definitely check it out if you want to make sure you are getting enough carbs, fat and calories...

I haven't had a problem with caffeine, I must be one of the lucky ones and can still manage a tall, soy decaf latte with sugar free vanilla syrup from Starbucks (I'm in OWL so I can have higher carbs)... They're pretty good even though the soy takes a while to get used too...

As for the shakes, I bought the Atkins vanilla powder and didn't like it... It was chalky and had no flavor, even after I added cream and splenda... Others may have better suggestions... I'm a big fan of the Advantage bars but know that can cause some people to stall - you'll have to see how they effect you... The coconut ones are absolutely delicious!!!

Good luck!

I tried a warm shake (recomended for hot chocolate) nasty. The first time I tried just one scoop whipped with cream it was great. Every time after that it hasn't been good and has made me nausious. I did use it in a protien pancake recipe with flax and they came out decent. Tasted like buckwheat pancakes and my so who isn't LC'ing loved them.

(This is just chocolate flavored, I havn't bought any other kind)

For ready made shake I think I'll stick to EAS low carb, they are a heck of a lot cheaper.

All I have to say is that I LOVE this WOE. It is something I think I can stick to rather than starving myself to be thin.

I used to drink 4 mountain dews minimum a day....I had a major withdrawel from sugar and caffiene...I almost didn't stick with this woe...because of this...but I have made it through...I still have a little caffiene a day but no SUGAR....I still have the headaches but I think that is because I only eat like 10-15 carbs a day...I try to drink lots of water....I have just never been a water person..but I am trying....!

I usually get dizzy during the first week of Induction except if I am taking a Potassium supplement. I don't know what the connection is, but it helps.
