Default Ponzo sauce question

I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this question, but I'm sure someone will be able to point me in the right direction if not

Today is my wifes birthday, and we have been religiously following the Atkins plan now for 9 days (total of 21lbs gone between the two of us) My question is this:

My wife loves her Sashimi, salmon especially. Does anyone know what Ponzo sauce is made of, and also approximately how many carbs we can expect from it?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

David

Happy birthday to your wife!

Ponzu sauce typically contains soy sauce, citrus juice - usually lemon - rice vinegar, bonito flakes, mirin (sweet Japanese cooking wine) and sugar. A tablespoon of soy sauce generally has 1.15 grams of carbohydrates and with the other ingredients mixed in I would guess that it would be around 2.5 grams per Tbsp.

You could ask for a wedge of lemon and squeeze it into to some soy sauce if one of your goals is avoiding sugar.

Wow Karen, thanks for the quick reply! My wife likes the idea of the soy sauce with a wedge of lemon. I don't know what she is more addicted to, the salmon sashimi or the ponzu sauce

Thanks again,

David
