Question A question about when to subtract fiber from total carb count

I read somewhere to subtract insoluble fiber, but not soluble fiber. What does this mean? How do I know if I should subtract fiber or not? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually - you subtract both... because they are not digested quickly - which means your blood sugar is not impacted. The soluble fiber is actually digested (eventually) and produces calories for your body (but still it is very delayed and does not spike blood sugar). Insoluble fiber is just flat out not digested. It is excreted without being utilized by the body. It produces very little contribution to calories and of course... does not spike blood sugar levels.
