Question What about exercise?

I've re-started a walking regimen - about 3mi/day- but I want some variety to my exercise so I don't get bored and lay off it completely. Any non-health club/gym (I live in the boonies - closest club is 35 miles away) suggestions from you ladies and gents?
Thanks a bunch

Hi. I do the body for life workout program. You could do it at home with just dumb bells and a workout bench and barbells or resistance bands. There is a great support group at www.lowcarbfriends.com ..Look for the body for lifers board. also see the site WWW.bodyforlife.com. I don't use the eating program but i LOVE the workout .

I use the body for life exercises too. I also add Pilates a couple days a week. And have just started Ab boot Camp.

I hike in the woods with my dogs for two hours a day. I have a severely damaged metabolism and am unable to train at the gym at all. Everytime I do, I make things much worse for myself. The only thing my body seems to tolerate without having fits is hiking. I enjoy it a whole bunch and the scenery is always different. There is nothing that comes close to breathing the fresh air, hearing the river and the birds chirping, and getting to see the happy state of your dogs.

I also assist in tile setting, so I get lots of exercise doing that as well. On the days I work, I get pretty tired out though, and do notice it is hard on my body. However, I have to work.

I think you will do fine taking walks if you change the places you walk often. I alternate hiking trails as much as I can.

Good luck.

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday I do a Crunch tape called Cardio Sculpt and on Tuesday and Thursday I do a Walk Away the Pounds tape (currently 2 miles), also Monday thru Friday I do a separate 8 minute abs tape. I don't do regular work outs on the weekend, but I do a lot of gardening and yard work. There is a huge variety of tapes out there that you can do in your own home. If you go that route, I would suggest getting 2 or 3 different tapes so you can rotate them and not get so tired of the same old work out.

I love The Firm tapes! I work out four mornings a week and alternate tapes with Yoga tapes and jogging. I give myself Wednesday off if I've done the rest. I only can manage a half hour in the mornings, but it feels great. My favorite tapes right now are Cardio Sculpt Blaster and Body Sculpt Blaster because the are thirty minutes. You can get them at http://www.collagevideo.com/ I would recomend the step "Fanny Lifter". I found my other steps somewhat dangerous with some of their moves.
