Default  Brussel Sprouts!!!!!The vegie with the big #'s

Hello,

How is everyone at LC Land today? I have a question. I made Chicken soup and I put in squash and zucchinni and Brussel Sprouts... Then after I ate a nice big bowl, I went and checked the Carb Counter on this site.. And it said Brussel Sprouts had 8.96gr of carbs per 100 grms... But I only ate 2 sprouts... How do you fiqure that out.... I quess I should have checked sprouts first but I did not think...Is that considered a slip? If I went so far over the induction count of 20grms.....well actually I am up to 25grms I was not eating enough grms...

I started induction 3 weeks ago
started at 155
now at 146,7 depending on how I look at the scale
goal 135

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions...

Sprouts also have fibre and you can deduct the fibre from your count.

I love sprouts and generally work on the principle that the effective carbs is no more than about 1 carb per sprout.

The 20g limit is not a magic number and the bar is set low to account for most people.

No need to worry, no harm done, enjoy your sprouts.

I've just looked up brussel sprouts in the carb counter. They are 5.15 effective carbs per 100g (per 3 and a third ozs). I think you can eat them so long as you count these carbs.

When you work out the 'effective carbs' you subtract the fiber from the total carbs.

Eg If a thing is 8g total carbs but 3g of these carbs are fiber which you can't digest you end up with 5g effective carbs.

Hope this helps
Robert
