Default LC Ketchup in Canada??

I did a search on the site and found that LC ketchup DOES exist!

So... does anyone know where it's available in Canada? I'm totally addicted to ketchup and it would be great if I could find a LC brand!

Hey Joe - I love JoK N Al ketchup - it is better than Heinz.

I have not tried Steels or Keto yet, but they are available at some Canadian internet sites. As for locally in London; I am not sure if they are available there.

Thanks! I guess I'll have to do some searching here... I can't really afford to do any shopping on the net... I hate being a broke student!

How many grams of carbs are in these LC ketchups? I found a generic brand at Sobey's with 2.6gms per serving. I think Heinz is over 4gms. Are these other ones even lower?

Depends on the brand, JoeJoe. Atkins, Keto, Walden Farms and Steele's all claim about 1g per tbsp but some have sugar alcohols and some don't (this will have an effect on some people). I have tried the Keto and the Walden Farms and they were good Some are available in Health Food Stores now, and even some regular stores. You'll have to go take a look in your locale.

You will find lots of info and reviews about these things here in the Products forum, can use the SEARCH feature (see the globe on the upper right?) and maybe just go straight to the Keto Products and More thread stuck to the top of this Products forum and have a good rummage.

Better yet, though, I think I'll "move" this thread to the Canada forum, where you just might get more Canadian locations... not to worry, there will still be a link from the Products forum for any and all to find your post.

Ta!

Does it taste like real ketchup to you? Or an oversweet version?

Jok N Al tastes pretty good. Only problem is that it's kinda runny. I originally liked Keto ketchup but can't find it now.

The Atkins ketchup is pretty good, and thicker than the Jok'n'Al.

I think they're all pretty darn sweet, though, and in the end I like the Westbrae "Un-Ketchup" which isn't sweetened at all and has a very nice thick tomato-ey flavour.

Usually found in Health Food Stores (and bonus, costs a bit less than the 'low carb' ketchups).

I'll never buy regular ketchup again!!

A friend (ok, it was my mother) brought me back 6 bottles of Heinz OneCarb from Florida. It ROCKS. Virtually identical to the original. Same colour, smell, taste. I couldn't tell the difference in a blind taste-test. It might be slightly thicker, but that's really splitting hairs. It's even cheap - a 14oz bottle was just US$1.69

I can't believe all those other l/c ketchups missed the mark by sooo much. I thought Walden Farms was revolting. Atkins & Keto were slightly better. Westbrea is a tastey tomato product, but ketchup it ain't. To my taste, nothing is even close to Heinz OneCarb.

I know, I know, it sux that it's not available in Canada. I am told by marketing friends that Canada's requirement for bilingual packaging makes niche products like this uneconomical to distribute here. And to add insult to injury, the label says it's made in Canada! Grrrr. So do what you gotta do - take a trip Stateside, have a 'merkin friend send you some, waddevah - - just get some. You' scrambled eggs will thank you (like my Swiss Chalet chicken just thanked me).
