What the "normal" recommended amount of carbs per day is-- For someone NOT on Atkins?

I'm not sure what you mean here, Holly.

If you mean people who are not low carbing, then the sky's the limit! All those nutritionists who say LC is bad tell folk to base their diet on high carb foods (we know they're wrong ).

For people on other low carb plans than Atkins, the starting carb counts vary from 30 to 60 to not counting them at all.

And we all differ as to how many carbs we need before we will lose weight. Some severely insulin resistant folk can only handle 20 or so before they gain, while others will still lose on 100 carbs.

The government, in their infinite, sugar-loving wisdom, says 300 grams per day. Yes, THREE HUNDRED, despite the epidemic of obesity and diabetes of the last 25 years that is killing faster every day.
