Default overweight and snoring (sleep apnea)?

Does any one experience this? And what can be done for it? And if weight is lost, will it go away? I have heard that being overweight can cause this...
Recently Iv'e been snoring says my DH, and last night I actually was forced awake because I couldn't breathe in my dream, and when I woke up I actually could NOT breathe untill I sat up! I could get air in but not out! It was very frightening....!!! Needless to say I was afriad to go back to sleep. I avoided laying on my back and fell asleep about an hour later, and slept sound... but how do I make sure I don't rollover onto my back during the night. This has never happened before.
