Default Anyone having trouble with excess skin?

Hi,
Im new to this, so I still have those annoying little questions.Does the sagging skin thing happen to everyone who looses more than 30 pounds? Anyway to get rid of the skin, w/o plastic surgery? What about exercising?

I had the same question about a month ago and I was told that it depended on the individual. I can tell you that I have lost 41lbs in the past 2 1/2 months and so far and I don't have excessive loose skin yet (cross your fingers). I was told that vitamin E lotion and cocoa butter would help decrease the stretch marks, but other than that I'm not sure.

I think that a lot depends on your age and how your body adjusts. I had also heard that after quick weight loss that it might take your body a while, months or a year, for your skin to catch up and tighten up again.

In my opinion even if excercise doesn't help me at least I will be in shape with some loose skin (ha ha).

Good luck

It indeed depends on your age, and the elasticity of your skin. I know people who have lost a lot of weight, had no choice but to live with it or have surgery. It also depends on how fast you lose the weight, lost it fast, the skin has to play catch up. Exercise always helps!

Default Loose skin

On a personal note, I had a baby about 15 months ago, and at the time I weighed 200 lbs. I have had loose skin on my stomach ever since, and now I am down to 151. However, about two weeks ago I bought some skin firming lotion by Neutragena, and it has really helped me. Where before, my tummy skin folded over, now it is like a little pooch. But, I am still over weight so hopefully that will continue to go down as my weight does. Hope that helps!

I'm also very interested in this. I had twins nearly three years ago and, well, it isn't called "twin skin" for nothin'! I haven't been able to get rid of it but I think I'm going to try that Neutrogena lotion!

The rule of thumb is to wait one year after you have lost weight (and stabilized) before doing anything about excess skin. After you stop weight loss and go onto maintenance it takes at least 6 weeks for your body to redistribute your fat, so you may see some difference then, but some folks take up to a year for the skin to tighten back, so don't do anything until then. Never try to do anything about sagging skin (surgically that is) *while* you are still losing weight. Daily massage with a firming cream can help a lot.
