Question some induction questions

Can I continue to drink my regular Diet Coke during induction?
Also what nuts are or aren't allowed ? I have some pecans and some dry roasted peanuts.
How about sugar free jello gelatin during induction?

Hiyah Cherper. Here's something you're probably going to hear a few times in this thread. Get yourself a copy of the book for the plan you're following.

There I have said it

No nuts on Induction, period.
Peanuts are not nuts - they are legumes.
Deit coke - if you're a purist? NO, no apsartame or caffeine on Induction. Diet Rite is made with Splenda and is caffeine free
SF Jello - same thing, only if made with Splenda.

The splenda / aspartame and caffeine things are two of those YMMV things (your milage may vary) - it stalls some, but not others.

While you're waiting to read the book, check out www.atkinscenter.com for a list of Induction foods.

Nat

Just to sum up....

The rules are no nuts, no caffeine, and no aspartame.
Some people don't follow the caffeine and aspartame rules and lose the weight fine, but these can cause insulin surges and cravings.

Default Hey Cherber!

Let Me Start By Saying You Are Gorgeous! You Look Like Shania Twain. And I'm Not A Lesbian!

Now....diet Coke Is Allowed As Long As It Has Saccharin. Any Other Sweetners, I'd Be Careful With Because Even Though They Are Not Sugar, The Body Releases Some Insulin Due To The Sweet Taste.

You Can Also Have Any Kind Of Nuts - As Long As They Are Plain - No Honey Coated, Etc. Just Always Check The Carbs And Sugar Content. If There Is More Than 1 G Of Sugar Per Serving - Forget It During Induction And Save It For After. Most Nuts Are Okay Though - I Lost 5 Pounds Already In 2 1/2 Days.

Love Your Doggie!!!!

Kimberly

Nat gave a very good run down and my copy of DANDR supports the no nuts on Induction...those should be saved for OWL and the Maintenance phases.

Staying under 20 grams of carbs does not necessarily mean you are following Induction. DANDR and many websites will list specifically which foods you should choose from that are Induction-friendly.

Since you are so tiny to start with, you'll probably want to cut out nearly all your artificial sweetener. It's tough losing when you don't have much to lose. The others are right...no nuts.

The sugar free jelly (jello in USA) is fine IF it is sweetened with splenda and you limit your sweetener servings to no more than 3 per day.
the complication is that in UK there are no ready-made or packets to make up that are sweetened with splenda or one of the other allowed sweeteners, so we have to make our own using unsweetened gelatine and legal sweeteners.
I think in USA there are some ready made brands that ARE 'atkins-legal' so you need to read packet information to check you buy the correct ones.
