Post Sloppy Joes

It seems that coming up with a recipe for sloppy joes (the meat part of it)...

...wouldn't be too difficult, though the sauce would be less sweet than you might be accustomed to.

But what would you do about the bread part? Low-carb tortillas are great but they might not be quite the same if you're a sloppy joe purist.

Interested in other's ideas too.

Donald

Well DWRolfe I would be just as satisfied without the bread.. I'm not a bread eater anymore...I would eat just the sauce or maybe put it between two lettuce leaves...

I would guess you could make a sloppy joe-type recipe by using ground beef, low carb ketchup, brown sugar twin, green pepper, onions, and garlic. In my old high carb days we used to make a coney sauce out of these for our hotdogs, and I thought at the time you could eat it as is, on bread. I don't know what you could use as a bread replacement though

Post Low carb tortillas...

That sounds very good...

...and it would be good rolled up in low carb tortillas, too. After all, it's suppose to be sloppy!

enjoy!

Default this is what I did

1 pound ground beef
1/4 - 1/2 cupchopped onion
1/4 - 1/2 cupchopped gr. pepper
couple tablespoons chopped jalapeno (optional, I like spicy)
1/2 cup Taco sauce (like Ortega... not salsa)
1/4 cup Keto brand Ketchup (better tasting than Atkins, IMO)
(measurements are eyeballed... use you judgement)
I browned the beef then added the onion and peppers and cooked till tender. Added the sauces. Stir and cook a few minutes longer. The longer you cook it, the less Sloppy it will be. I served it on a plate topped with grated cheese.
I ran it through MasterCook and it said about 3 gr carb per 1/2 cup serving.
... Boy do I love this stuff.
