Default Ooops! I overdid the salad veggies

Well, when I was making my salad to take for lunch, I knew it was a tiny bit bigger than it should have been, but I didn't realize quite how much bigger until I input it into fitday. I am on day 3 of induction. I am shocked that the sugar and coffee cravings haven't been overwhelming, but I didn't expect to overeat the veggies.

I will do better tomorrow, but how will this affect my induction? I don't have those ketostix to tell what's going on yet, so I don't know if I went into ketosis yet. This lapse will probably delay it further. Oh, I'm depressed.

As long as the veggies you overdid on are from the very first list (the one that says 2 cups above it) going overboard on salad veggies isn't going to be a problem. They are very, very low in carbs. I typically eat 4 cups of the 'salad' veggies for lunch and did so even on induction.

Ketosis - you can tell when you're in ketosis when you get stinky breath and stinky pee. That's not a nice way to say it, but that's the very best description I can give.

Don't go giving yourself a hard time about little mistakes. They happen. That's what everybody is here for -- to help you!!

Keep going!

Be glad it was veggies - something good for you - and not chocolate or cake or something! Sheeze - I wish I could be that "good"! lol...just get back on track and you'll be fine, I'm sure.

Remember on Fitday you can subtract the fiber. This might put the salad veggies back into proportion. I think with lettuce, cucumber and celery you can eat almost as much as you like - avoid tomatoes though.

What type of veggies did you eat?? just salad veggies?
I noticed you put that you entered your food into fitday... Be carefull to watch the quantity on there.. sometimes when you put in lettuce,romaine,ect... you put in 1.. and it defaults to 1 head.. haha.. which i'm sure you didn't eat a whole head of lettuce...

I think you should be fine on the veggie front... i can eat tons of salad and still lose...... Keep smiling you are doing fine...

Always try to eat some protien and fat w/ your salad.. you don't want to "bunch" up all your carbs in one meal...

Good Luck

Like the saying goes, "You didn't get fat eating veggies"!!!!

I've never measured my salads--by the time you subtract the fiber there's not a lot of carbs in the salad veggies (lettuce, cucumber, celery, spinach). I really wouldn't stress about it if I were you!!

Thank-you for the replies and support. I am in better spirits, today. It was a yummy salad! Lettuce, green peppers, cucumber, tomato, olives, tuna and feta cheese.

I remember it being discussed in the book (DANDR), but I've forgotten how the fibre works. My book is at work. Can anyone enlighten me?

The fiber thing works like this: subtract the grams of fiber from the grams of carbohydrates for your 'net' carbs.

I really think it would be hard to overdo salad veggies, too, especially if you're young and/or have a faster metabolism than an oldster like myself. My daughters eat way more carbs than I do and are losing weight like mad. I'm losing good, too, just have to make sure I watch everything like a hawk (mostly because if I go too low on fats and/or calories I tend to quit losing). They quit measuring and counting a few weeks ago.

That's great on no cravings! And if they do pop up (sometimes they do when you least expect them), I've found it's best to satisfy them with fats.

I shouldn't have said "no cravings", when I did. Last night I was craving ice cream so bad But I didn't give in and drank lots of H2O.

Thanks for the info on net carbs. That makes me feel better still.
