Angry Frustrated!

I have been no/lo carbing for 4 weeks now. I have been going on memory
from a diet my Dr gave me about 15 years ago. It was a lo carb diet where
you could eat all you wanted, but only of certain foods.

This is what I have been doing for 4 weeks.

Breakfast
2 egg omelette with colby/jack cheese, 1/2 avocado, 2 slices bacon, about
a tblsp chopped onion, about a tblsp mushrooms. top with one tblsp salsa
(2 carbs in 2 tblsp, as listed on pkg) and one tblsp sour cream (1 carb in
2 tablsp, as listed on pkg).
4-5 slices of bacon.

Lunch
Usually none because I'm not hungry!

Snack
One Atkins candy bar, with "zero" net carb count

Dinner
One large vodka martini, 2 caper olives
Salad with 1/2 roma tomato, 2-3 tblsp crumbled bleu cheese, 1-2 tblsp
purple onion, real bacon crumbles, lots of chunky bleu cheese dressing
(zero carbs, as listed on jar).
Lots of meat...usually steak or 2 pork chops or 2-3 lamb chops or grilled
chicken or salmon with tarter sauce (mayo..no carbs!)
2-3 glasses of chardonnay (1 carb per 4 oz. glass as listed on
lowcarbfriends.com )

2-3 nights a week we go out and I drink 5-6 glasses of chardonnay.
I tried this about 2 months ago, and cheated a few times...ate too many
sunflower seeds, ate BBQ sauce, a few odds and ends here and there which
I shouldn't have...but the last 4 weeks, I have not had ONE carb that I
know of, that I shouldn't have!

This diet most closely resembles the "Banting diet" (you can look up
"Banting diet" on the 'Net to find it) but here is my question....

WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING WRONG?????????????????????
I haven't lost ONE pound...in fact I think I've GAINED!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please email me direct at **************** for some help, since
I may forget where I found this board in all my searching!

Hi nobrien,

There are many things that could be hindering your weight loss.

Alcohol and chocolate treats jump out at me as possible culprits.

To be honest, your food doesn't seem to even slightly resemble the Banting Diet as I've it from this site.

You may want to pick a plan from the "Which low-carb plan is right for me?" link on the right side of the screen and read the book that goes with that plan.

Trying to follow a diet from memory...my memory fails me at some very simple things, I wouldn't trust it to remember something correctly from years ago.

Your body will burn alcohol before it burns fat. If you keep supplying it with alcohol, it will never get a chance to start burning the fat. People used to drink spirits, long ago because their water supplies were often contaminated. Fortunately today, clean water is abundant and you should be drinking it often.

I'm into whole foods and bars can cause many problems for people, so they should be eliminated if losing weight isn't happening.

Smaller meals, more frequently can help fat to come off. Don't skip lunch.

Find your way back to our site soon, if you can. Posting of e-mail addresses is not permitted.

Good luck,

Beth

Aside from the wine, alcohol, and the fact that the dressing and mayo DO have carbs....even if they're listed as "0".

I'd suggest also chacking out the article on teh different plans and getting the book for the plan ou choose.

I'm "following Atkins" too, and not losing an ounce, and I know exactly where to lay the blame. I'm eating too much. Breakfast started out as 4 eggs and 4 sausage patties, and now it's down to 2 eggs and one patty and I'm just as satisfied. I'm working with an MD to get some nutritional stuff straightened out; suspect deficiencies are driving my cravings.

LC is WAY less cal-restricted than most other diets, but you still have to eat less than you burn.
