Default My journey to release the inner ME! (The one hidden under all the FAT!)

Ok!
I'm starting this gym log today.

I have recently started working out with my home gym- it's a Sears Cross Bow (similar to the Bow Flex)
Here is my tenative schedule for now:
Monday- Heavier weights with fewer reps- 3 sets of 5 reps
Tuesday- Lighter weights with more reps- 3 sets of 12 reps
Wednesday- Rest day- maybe walking or something but no lifting.
Thursday- Repeat of Monday
Friday- Repeat of Tuesday
Sat & Sun - no lifting- just odds & ends- ie: yard work, walking or what ever.

Today- I worked out on the gym for 30 minutes then walked the dog for a little bit before work.
That REALLY woke me up this morning too! I SO didn't wanna get out of that bed- but I'm glad I did now!

Got my tail out of bed at 5:30 again & done my work out- actually went for some extra time on accident! lol
An extra 10-15 minutes over my normal time of 30 minutes- Didn't realize it until I checked the clock & it was 6:30~!
It takes me 15 minutes to crawl out of bed & get some work out clothes on! ha ha How SAD is that??? So I'm NOT a morning person. ok! Once I'm up- I'm good to go usually- but it's crawling out of my comfy bed that presents the problem.
Anyway- so then I took Josie- my pooch out for her pee break & let her scout for froggies by the creek for a few minutes- WISH you could see that! It is FUNNY looking! Especially when she actually SEES one hop! HA HA

Today made my 2 week mark for working out on a "regular" set schedule.
So I am patting myself on the back for that one.
I am going to get the hubby to take some pics of my bosy NOW- before I get too far into this thing so that I can see what difference it makes. I didn't take any pics of myself before I started losing weight- until I was 30 pounds in & now I wish I HAD.
Oh well. I don't see me gaining it back just to take that picture! LOL
What is done is done.

Started week 3 of working out 4 days a week on the hom gym 30 minutes each day.
Got up this morning & worked out as well.
I STILL haven't taken any pics~ Grrrr
Keep forgetting until I'm in bed or something! lol

Tomorrow I plan on walking early in the AM 1.5 miles.
This is the first time I have walked in about a month- as I was having shin splints pretty bad for a while & had to give that a rest.
So we'll see how that one goes!
Wish me luck!

Walked 20 minutes this morning-
Not as much as I'd of liked to have gotten in- maybe later I can walk again or something.
I have my hand weights here- maybe I can do something with them while I'm here today.

Like Galatia keeps saying (and I agree wholeheartedly), those of us who don't work out in a gym need a little cameraderie to keep us going. I want to be the head cheerleader for us underdogs!

And as I always say, the journey is often more interesting and rewarding than getting to the goal. Stay focused on the goal, but enjoy the road there as well!

Mark

Nothing to report today so far-
I may end up getting that grass mowed after all.
I didn't get to it yesterday-
the grass was too wet while it was cool out & by the time it dried- it was TOO HOT!!!

We'll see!

Starting week 4, I see. You're about to have a whole month done! That's excellent-- you are probably in the habit of it now, and look forward to it. I see you're having a little trouble getting the pictures taken, how about measurements? Have you taken those? It's motivating to chart your progress in pictures and measurements. The first 6 months you'll see some fast results. Keep up the great work!

Wow Donna! You worked everything! You're pretty darn motivated!

Could I make a suggestion though? Most lifters have a routine where they do legs one day, arms another day, abs and back on another day, and shoulders on another day yet.

This is done to prevent overtraining. That's what happens when you tear your muscles down without giving them enough time to repair and recover.

So instead of exercising every body part every day (or even every other day), you rotate things a little. Each body part get hit hard once (maybe twice) per week, and recovers.

I'm not trying to give directions at all, but I *really* want to help you get the best results for your hard efforts

Best wishes,
Mark

Hi Donna,

I saw some posts by you in Debbie's, Mark's and Pammie's journal. I thought I'd pop in and say hi. Great job on the workouts. With these 3 in your corner, you can't go wrong, that's for sure!!!!

I just recently stopped doing a whole body workout 3 times a week myself. I've gone to a 4 day split, with the help of these 3, and bugging Debbie constantly If you want some ideas, you can cruise into my gym log and see what I do, with the help of these wonderful people. And I do enjoy it alot. It's not as long, and you can add in some extra exercises for each group to get a better concentrated workout.

Anyway, nice to meet you. And GREAT JOB!!!!
