Default What have you done with your old (too big) clothes?

What have you done with your old, fat clothes? Are they still in your closet, or boxed up in the garage...just in case? Did you give them to charity?

I tried on everything in my closet yesterday. My "to go" pile is bigger than my "keeping" pile, and I no longer have *any* clothes that are too small for me. But...even though I never want to wear the big stuff again...I'm kind of attached to them. Some I've only had for a month or two, and I still think of them as my new clothes. Really hard to give new (expensive!) jeans to the Goodwill.

What have you or will you do with your stuff?

I too cleaned out my closet and all my drawers yesterday, and all of my too big clothes are going right in the rummage sale that I am having next week. I figure if I get rid of everything, then I can't gain asny weight back, as I won't have anything to wear and I refuse to buy new fat clothes.

I am putting all my stuff on Ebay. Believe it or not, there is a big market there for good condition used clothing, especially if they are brand name. I have several outfits in my closet taht are hardly even worn. I am going to put several lots together and put them all up for auction, starting bid 99 cents, and see where it goes

I'm planning on selling my new stuff on Ebay. Things that aren't hardly worn, but still in good shape are going to the local domestic violence shelter. This is a great way to clean out my closet lol!

Why not put the too big stuff in the consignment store and use the money to buy new stuff? Thats what I will do with my good stuff.

I give them to ARC a local charity that drives by and picks the bag up from my house. Or I donate them to Goodwill.

Beadworker, that is a good idea I am planning to need new pants pretty soon.

Atiaran, how funny that you say that! ARC is picking up some stuff tomorrow. It is mostly my newest stuff that I am having a hard time parting with. (My progress clothes)

I think I'm going to do the consignment store.
(Sigh) I had just bought a bunch of new clothes before I started Atkins. But Then again I'd rather be thin than to fit in those outfits again!!

So the search for the perfect black pants goes on.

I have taken some clothes to Goodwill. I have three more bags of clothes ready to go and my closet still has a lot of big clothes left.

If they are only a size or two too big you could alter them...it's very easy...just put them on inside out and pin down the sides of the legs and a little in the crotch (if necessary). Then it's only pretty much straight stitch following the pins. I usually graduate my stitches into the old seam so I don't have to do the hem at the bottom of the pants. You will wear them for such a short period of time (becasue you'l lose more) that who cares if the waist has some extra material flap on the inside...no one can see it anyway if you have a long shirt on. Anyway...you can do the same with shirts...inside otu and pin!!!!!! Good luck if you try it....it's not that difficult!!!! let me know how you do!!!!

I wish there was some way to easily start a clothing exchange. I have lots of 14s that are in nice condition, but are too baggy on me now. I badly need size 12s, but don't want to invest big money in them because my goal is a size 10 and it seems pointless to buy clothes I'll just be getting rid of soon.
