Default I Think I Stalled!

I haven't lost any pounds since week 1 of Induction. I haven't lost any inches for the last 8 weeks. I'm still eating at Induction levels with the exception of alcohol...4-6 drinks of carb-free vodka and diet tonic on the weekend. I've been exercising religiously since before Induction (walking ~ 3.5-4.0 mph). Could the alcohol be causing the stall? Please don't say yes as I really look forward to my drinks on weekends! What can I do to get this fat to leave me? I know I'm eating alot of calories (1400-1800/day), but that's still fewer calories than I burning. Any suggestions?

It could be a matter of you are at a healthy weight. Check your body fat. I like the calculator under the resources link at www.zoneperfect.com

It could be that you have a healthy fat percentage. If you want to get rid of the extra bulges then you might want to look at adding weights to your exercise rutine. You don't have to join a gym. Find a web site or a book about doing ismetrics where you use your own resistance to start. Or you canlook into buying a small dumbbell set or signing up for a gym.

You may have a high lean weight and going lower would mean needing to either losing lean mass, or exercising enough to keep the muscle and push down the BF. Remember too as close as you are too goal it will go extreamly slow no matter how you go about doing it.

Mary, you may be eating enough calories but are you eating the right calories? A stall is a stall because it stops the fat from coming off, yet it doesn't cause you to gain fat - usuall it's something in particular that you're sensitive to, like dairy, eggs, nuts or artificial sweeteners.

The alcohol could be effecting you - alcohol will not knock you out of ketosis but it will put fat burning on hold. And if your calories include the alcohol then that would be my likely suspect for the halt in losses. Alcohol is naturally turned into ketones and burned as fuel - it's very easily done, so why would your body work to burn body fat when it's got a cheap and steady supply?

My advice is to try Induction for 2 weeks clean - no booze, no nuts, limit the cheese and sweeteners and eat the veggies. See what kind of results it yields.

-Nat
