Question Help: whatsup with Cheese?

While I have loosely done a low-carb diet before and lost weight, I have just now begun the Atkins diet and have read the book cover to cover.

I am wondering why cheese is limited....and why it is recommended that you cut it out of the diet if you're having trouble losing fat. It doesn't have much carb......so whatsup? does anyone know why?

Thanks so much.......

Louisa

If you are having trouble losing, especially those last stubborn pounds, you may have to resort to counting calories/fat along with carbs. Cheese= low carb, high calories, high fat.

THanks for your reply Iowagirl. But, see, this still doesn't make sense to me. I mean, if you're having trouble losing and need to start counting calories and fat, why not target butter, or pork rinds, or any of the other "approved" foods the have a high fat content? And.,.,.this notion that fat is a problem completely contradicts so much of the Adkins plan (which is what I'm doing). In fact, if you're not losing well, it's advised to UP the fat!

Jis' wonderin! Always wonderin'.........

Dairy can be a staller, especially for women because of the hormones they give to cows nowadays.

What can "they" contaminate for us next?

Certain cheese is ok, but limited on Induction since most do contain some carbs - I have been on Atkins since Feb. 2003 and have lost over 40lbs. - I eat some cheese every day
