You don’t have to count the GL by yourself. On the Mendosa Web site there is a table with both GI and GL. It’s the most exhaustive list I know.
In my experience, when a food has low GI, it will have a low GL. But sometimes it can have high GI and low GL which is confusing.
As a rule of thumb, if a food have low GL and moderate GI I eat it in moderation! I avoided all high GI food while loosing weight even in small quantities.
I am not the resident expert on this subject, I hope I did not mislead you in anyway.
