Unhappy First Timer!

I am a "newbie" here. I am very interested in all of the challenges, and am also looking for an encouraging supportive buddy or buddies. I have been on a very strict low carb diet for 2 months now. In my first month, I lost 9 pounds. This month, I have lost 10 pounds. However, I am a victim of scale abuse. Today, I am a little depressed. I have 2 herniated disks in my back, preventing me from exercising. I have not exercised yesterday or today. That in itself is depressing. I was doing so well, and now, I feel I lost it. I got on the scale today and I gained almost 4 pounds in 2 days. That is so frustrating. I guess I have not drank enough water the last few days either, considering going to the bathroom hurts the back. I guess I need to wait until my back feels better (maybe monday) but for now, I am stuck in a rut.

I started my journey at 307 pounds, and now I am at 288. I have a long way to go. Does anyone have any encouraging words, or pointers to keep me going? It would really appreciate it!

Jolynn

Hi Jolynn,

Welcome to the forum! You have done a magnificent job so far - well done!!

I wouldn't worry about an occasional rise in the scales. We all have fluctuations with water. Possibly you had had some bacon or ham the day before that caused a little fluid retention.

I can empathize with your back. I have a chronic back prob also. I just exercise when and how I can, and don't beat myself up on the days when I can do nothing.

I'm wondering if you've visited our Triple Digits Club yet? It's a subforum specifically for those who start with 100+ pounds to lose. They are a particularly friendly and supportive bunch there. Here's the link: http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdis...daysprune=&f=49

I hope you're receiving some treatment that will help resolve your back pain. And I hope you feel better soon.

Rosebud
