Default Cream, Half & Half, Milk - what do you use?

I'm on my third week and have been using half & half cream in my low carb cereal and tea, BUT I just can't stop feeling GUILTY. I'm losing weight, so I know it must be alright, but I am so tempted to switch to skim milk. I don't use much, but it's just the thought of using cream. What does everyone else use?

I must say though, when I was on a low-fat diet and using skim milk in my tea etc. it was never satisfying - and the tea with half and half is wonderful.

I use either half and half, or heavy cream, in my morning coffee. I loathe milk, haven't had it straight for years. When I was LF, I tended to use soy milk or rice milk, but I gotta admit, heavy cream has the best taste of all. I don't have cereal for breakfast, I have eggs. I also eat a lot of low carb veggies and even some fruit.

My cholesterol went down, the good stuff went up. That's just me, results do vary.

If you are concerned about it, have your doc draw your blood and see what's going on for you. Good luck!

I use half/half in my coffee and I drink 2% carb countdown milk for other stuff. Heavy cream in my coffee if I run out of h&h, but usually just save that for cooking.

2% carb countdown milk? I haven't heard of it - you must live in the US - I haven't come across anything like that in Canada yet. We usually lag behind a bit in new products. : (

I use half and half but only a tablespoon or two at a time. Lately though we have not had any for several days and I have been taking my tea plain and unsweetened with a little lemon in it.

Cream is my "milk" of choice, although I usually have half and half since DH doesn't like cream. Don't feel guilty. Fats are healthy. We consider them a food group Your body won't store fat, if it is getting fats. Just like your body won't store water when you drink plenty of water. Just read more about fats and about glucagon. Soon it will become clear.

I use cream in my scrambled eggs to make 'em fluffier. And occasionally some splenda-sweetened whipped cream. Never milk - I'm not a big fan of milk and the Carb Countdown comes in such a big carton I can never come close to finishing it. I wish they'd sell it by the pint - or even half pint.

I fix my Flax Seed Meal cereal in Carb Countdown. I use half-and-half on my berries. I would love to use cream, but I can't afford it!

Of course, this does come from one who ate straight cream on their Cheerios as a child and even now I can just drink cream from the carton.

Don't feel guilty about using the fat. It's a very healthy thing to eat. We didn't get this way from eating fats--it was from eating carbohydrates. When I was young I ate a very high-fat diet. As I got older, more and more carbs were added, and that's when I started developing weight problems.

I use half + half in coffee and Italian sodas; cream for cooking and hot tea.

I recently tried Carb Countdown chocolate milk and it's very good so I drink 8 oz every other day or so.

I use cream in my coffee and in my Italian sodas, some times I'll use half & half in coffee but I prefer cream. I was never a big fan of milk - except in cereal - which I don't eat now. I also discovered the Carb Countdown Chocolate - OMG - it's great! I love it. But like rloveman said - smaller containers of it would be better!

Default What do you use on your cereal

My husband gives me grief everytime I do this (he keeps trying to bully me
into going low carb AND low fat but I just dig in my heels and mmmm over
my not-so-low-fat dishes):

Atkins makes a almond crunch cereal that has 2 or 3 net carbs / serving. I
take it and instead of using milk or half n half, I use heavy cream. I mix it
all up and it is so good. More like a creamy-but-crunchy dessert than a
breakfast food.

Cheers!

Cynthia

Hi

I use half and half in my coffee, and I don't generally use it anywhere else. I get my calcium from leafy greens and tons of cheese.
