Default Color on Ketosis Strips

Hi ALl,

I am wondering how important the color of the ketosis strips is. I am measuing about a low to moderate level and I am unsure if that means I am actually in ketosis or just about to get there? Should I be trying to get into the really dark ranges of the strips or is it okay to be a lighter shade??? Thanks for your help.

Thumbs up Ketosis

Hi Julie

You are doing great. The fact that the stips show trace to medium means that you are well into ketosis. You want to make the same mistake that many of us do and think we should be aiming for the purple colour. The answer is we should not be as this tends to mean we are dehydrated and not drinking enough fluids. So stop worrying about the colour of the strips, you are in ketosis and hopefully the pounds will be slipping away too.

Julie, don't put too much stock into those keto stixs. The stixs measure only one of the type of ketone body and that one constitutes less than 1/5th of the ketones being burned in weight loss. Some people never get the stixs to turn; but that is no indication that you are not burning. Relax and LISTEN to your body.
