I know that you are suppose to drink a lot of water but I have to go to the bathroom so much when I do. Any other suggestions or should I just keep drinking water?

Thanks in advance.

Maren,

If you are going to the bathroom often enough that it is a problem then cut back on the water. The goal is to be hydrated, not waterlogged.

Sorry but i totally disagree - since it is through our urine that we lose the fat (that's what happens when you low carb) then I don't mind how long I spend in the bathroom a day - I know all the time I'm peeing it out it's fat that's being flushed away!!

It'll get better later on.

When I first started drinking a lot of water, I was going to the bathroom at least once per hour. Now I'm drinking 100-120oz per day and I only visit it once every 2 hours.

I am happy to say that the weight loss has helped this. I have less weight pushing down on my bladder now, so I don't have to go as often.

Hey tcastro, do you just drink plain water? I have trouble drinking enough... I have trouble drinking more than 1-2 glasses per day!

Maybe I am odd, but I drink literally about 400-500 oz of water a day. 1 24 oz bottle right when I wake up, then another on the way to work, and I constantly drink water at work, refilling my bottle at the water fountain about 3 times an hour over my 9 hour day...then a bunch of water when i get home, with dinner, and prior to going to bed. I do frequent the bathroom, however I think it prevents some hunger as well. Finally, I have read that for every 12oz of ice cold water that you drink, your body has to exert 5calories to regulate your internal body temp. So cold water also helps with weightloss that way. I may be a little overboard on the water intake, but I find it the most simple and cheap part of the diet.

tcastro said exactly what I would say. At first, it drove me crazy but now I am more used to it. And having some excess weight off the bladder really makes a difference. I love ice water!

I asked the doctor this question the other day. Once your urine is clear, you are adequately hydrated. 64 oz recommendation is an average which means some people need more and others need less.
