Question SPII & healed (I think)

Hi everyone. I am new to posting on these boards but I sure have been reading them a lot. Here's my dilema and question. I have been on SPII since Jan. 2003 after somersizing for almost 1 year. I lost 30 pounds on Somersizing then stalled for 4 months or more and my hair started to fall out. I switched to SPII doing the 15-20carbs per meal and I lost about 10 pounds (slowly). I believe my metabolism is healed, the symptom for IR is I take synthroid because my thyroid was irradiated several years ago. I took the ABO test posted by Jinxy and scored an 8 or 9 depending on the day, so I don't think that's a problem. I am now stalled again for more than a month (no decrease in measurements either). I still have weight mostly in upper arms, poochy stomach and hips and thighs to loose. Here's my question-finally!! Is anyone out there healed and eating 30 -45 carbs per meal like Dr. S suggests and still losing weight ( I really need to get rid of that)? I am once again noticing some hair loss during this stall. I am afraid if I increase my carbs so will my weight. That shouldn't happen if I'm healed- right? I would appreciate any advice. I enjoy reading the helpful posts from such an understanding group.

Hi Brenda,

The only thing I can recommend is posting menus, better yet starting a food journal at www.fitday.com. If you post some menus you'll definitely get better advice (the best place to do that is to start your own journal - that way we can regularly check in with you )

Hi Brenda:

I think Piano is doing the IS/HA program. You might visit her journal to see what kind of feedback she can offer you.

Hi Brenda, I was tested as being insulin sensitive and reading I don't fit into the adrenal burn out category at all so I can follow the program as being IS with healthy adrenal glands. When I first found out I went crazy and started eating some of the high GI fruits, and she said you can have a little bit of sugar without it damaging your health. Well, mentally I can't handle A LITTLE BIT OF SUGAR. I start to think it's okay and keep ice cream on hand and have a daily bowl full and stuff like that. So I have stuck to around 20 carbs per meal and 15 per snack. 30-45 is too much for me, I may get there someday if I SLOWLY increase my carbs. If I faithfully stay around 15-20 I lose.

I don't know what to think about your hair loss. It really sounds like low-thyroid to me. Have you recently been tested for that to see if you need to up your prescription?

Thanks ladies for the advice. I guess I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully the weight will peel off. Keeping everything balanced is so important to me.
