I don't know what the blood glucose level should be, but Atkins said it would be fine on LC. We eat lots of protein and the body produces glucose from protein.

hi,
low carb eating actually stablizers your blood sugar.instead of the highs and low you get with a standard high carb diet.
my bgs would range from 3 to 10 before l-c, now they are stable at 4 to 6mmols.this is why so many of us diabetics switch to low carb.sdgrandma is right, the body makes glucose from protein but at a very slow rate which is much better than the rapid bg responce from high carb.

Gee...my Blood Sugar dropped to a third of what it had been after the 1st three weeks of this diet...which is precisely what I had wanted!

It's now been consistantly in the "normal" range for the last 7 weeks, and my doc says "your blood sugar no longer seems to be an issue!"

I think it's unlikely that you are actually getting low blood sugar readings from LC...what are your numbers?
