Default Soy Flour

Has anyone else experienced rather unpleasant side effects from eating soy flour? When I have eaten on 2 occasions I have felt bloated, nauseaous and then had a very bad time on the toilet!!!
I looked on line and saw that soy can cause this in people. Perhaps Im intolerant to soy.Thats a real shame because for shrove Tuesday i was planning on having a pancake made with soy while everyone lese stuffs their faces with flour pancakes!!

Yep - I get those symptoms and also get thyroid symptoms (fatigue, fuzzy headed, throat swelling in the thyroid area). I stay away from the stuff.

Hi lizard21,

The only good soya is the fermented kind: soy flour is not fit for human consumption.

I take it you're a Brit, if you're planning on having pancakes on Shrove Tuesday??? Why not just be reckless for a day and have some anyway???

If you allow yourself this one treat on this one day, it might be easier than feeling deprived and then ending up bingeing on sweets later.

But it does indeed sound as if soy is not for you. Throw it out.

I make extraordinary pancakes this simple; crush 1 & 1/2 ounces of pork rinds, 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream, 1 egg. Let sit 5-10 minutes. Fry with butter.

Do they have pork rinds in the UK?

They have "Pork scratchings" which can't really be crushed, and "Pork crunch" which are more like what you guys have x

Well, if you don't have gluten issues, it's better to have a controlled treat than a "broke down and ate the whole thing" moment.

You can make pancakes with ground almonds or try this recipe
http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/low_carb_crepes.html
I haven't a clue what 'MiniCarb bake mix' is so I used ground almonds instead and they tasted great with lemon juice and some granulated splenda sprinkled over them.
