Talking Gave up fake food -- stall broken

Since last fall I've been eating low carb -- again -- but without results. My weight has been stuck at the same place for five months. I've been in ketosis some of that time.

I finally decided to do what I knew I needed to -- I gave up the fake stuff and alcohol. Although I've been diligently low carb, I've been eating low carb crackers, low carb chips, low carb tortillas, low carb candy, etc, and drinking a glass or two of wine with dinner. By giving it up, the scale finally moved 8 pounds in a week!

I did end up keeping the low carb protein shakes because they have no sugar alcohols or hidden carbs.

Just thought I'd relay my experience to anyone else who's struggling or wondering if the low carb products are causing them problems.

I have also believed that those foods should be avoided for weight loss. Even though they are low carb, they ARE processed, not whole foods, which is what we should concentrate on eating. I guess maybe they would be ok for a once in a while treat, but not part of your everyday diet.

Default congratulations!

thanks for posting this! it's so good (and important, for me especially) to be reminded of how useless those *fake foods* are, and how much they impede the weight loss process.

this was very encouraging!

congratulations on your weight loss!

Congrats on breaking your stall!

And thank you for the reminder that whole foods need to be the building blocks of our diets.

The only thing I buy is the tortillas and bread. Mainly for DH not me. I have maybe 1 tortilla and 2 slices of bread a week. A girl at work, same one who ate 6 LC bars in one day, brought me some LC tortilla chips, I tried 1, not bad, then told her that I couldn't have them because they were too good and I would eat them and I didn't need them. I think she was a little upset but oh well!
Congrats on the 8lb loss!

Just giving up the wine alone should help alleviate a stall. And remember those wine coolers have more sugar than regular wine.
