Default Storage time for whey?

Hi everyone.

A couple of months ago I received a bagful of whey powder (Optimum Nutrition 4,5 kg/10lbs) but haven't touched it yet. I'm afraid it will go rancid when I leave it open.

I don't have access to a sealing machine, should i buy one to put stuff in smaller bags?
Or just buy a large bin that can be shut close?

I would hate to see something as expensive as whey powder spoil
