Default Question about fiber.

I recently bought a fiber supplement called Fiber Choice. A serving size is two tablets. Total carbs: 8g, Dietary fiber: 4g, and soluble fiber: 4g. My question is whether or not all the fiber is deducted from the carbs or do I need to count 4g of carbs?

Looks to me like 4 net grams of carbs.

I'd agree...I think it's just saying the fiber is soluble....but that's another example of poor labeling.

If this were recorded like fats are, it would look like this:
Carbohydrates: 8g
Soluble Fiber: 4g
Insoluble Fiber: 0g

Soluble and Insoluble are types of fiber. Same as Saturated, Monounsaturated, and Polyunsaturated fats are types of fat.

I'd count 4gm carbs. And check the labels on others, I know there are some that have no added sugars/starches.

Thanks, potatofree and CindySue. I had a feeling that it was counted, but wasn't sure.

Both soluble and insoluble fiber have 0 impact on blood sugar levels so the count would be 0.

Here's a little something on fiber: Fiber 101 and Low-carbers and Fiber
