Thumbs up Suggestion for those not sticking to Induction

I used to have lots of trouble sticking to Induction. I would go on for a few days, then off a few. It seemed my momentum swang in both directions.

One cheat could send me into a downward spiral for further cheating.

So what made the difference for me? The answer for me was NAC (Neuro-associative Conditioning) and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming. Thanks, Tony Robbins!) Essentially, it's psychology. While biology plays a big role, I think it's the psychology that is the habitual cheater's downfall.

Here's how I broke this bad pattern:

You have to believe that you *MUST* lose weight, and not *SHOULD* lose weight.

A classic symptom of a "should" mentality of dieting is that you bargain with yourself when making food choices. "Hmm... Maybe I can have a brownie if I work out more today." or "Ok, 25 grams of carbs vs. 20 grams shouldn't make that much difference."

Make your choice now that you *MUST* lose weight and make proper choices. The next time you're at McDonald's, and are deciding between ground beef patties or an apple pie, remind yourself that it's not a choice for you anymore. Your willpower has already dictated that it's ground beef. No more wishy-washy. There is no other choice. Dead cow is your delicacy.

After your hunger has subsided, revel in your victory!

Good luck!

Awesome, and SO true. Thanks!

I think that's what has me so commited this time, is the MUST attitude vs. that I WANT to lose weight. I have not been blessed with willpower, so wanting something bad for me usually turned into MUST

Not this time though.

I've only seen Tony Robbins in Shallow Hal

I could be wrong but I think Tony Robbins is a motivational speaker. I think they're both tricks to overcome obstacles. Mind games with yourself I guess. I think some of it really works, like the "must" thing.

Rent Shallow Hal, it's funny! She's so unbelievable and such a caricature of an overweight person that it's not insulting.

Yes, he a motivational speeker--with the "awaken the Giant within" and a bunch more book and seminars on tape. You can order his stuff on late night TV, it's usually around $170-$200--OR you can be smart and check you library--they usually carry his products....he's VERY motivating.
Good Luck!

I am a Tony Robbins fan, one of his gems on "success" in any endeavor is to "make the decision - then follow the steps". Which is helpful to me in weight loss. Making the decision is the hard part because then you HAVE to follow the steps, or you didn't make the decision at all. Works for me, anyway.

I love that!

I always remember the saying "there are no coulds, woulds, or shoulds". What we actually do is what counts. Thanks for sharing in your post.
