Post Take Prenatal Vitamins-Even If Not Pregnant

I was wondering what kinds of daily vitamins people are taking.

I have been taking PreNatal Vitamins for a few years, as recommended by my female GYN who does the same.

Even though I have not had children and do not have plans to, she suggested these vitamins when I asked what kind of supplement is good for me. The only difference I've noticed in these compared to general daily vits, is they provide more folic acid, calcium and iron - as those who are pregnant need more of these nutrients.

Prenatal supplements also contain iron, which helps protect you from becoming anemic. Excellent sources of iron include red meats, enriched cereal, liver, dried beans, dried peas and dried apricots. It's best to get nutrients from the food you eat; however, a supplement is helpful and should work with your food intake, not replace it of course.

You can now purchase these in Health Food stores and no longer have a prescription. I get mine at GNC. I think they are even cheaper if you buy them at stores vs. thru the Dr.
