Hi all!

I'm KatieP from South Carolina.

I've been on CAD for almost 2 weeks and according to the scales, I have lost about 6 pounds so far. That makes me happy.

One question - do any of you get hungry between meals? This morning, I got very hungry before lunchtime. Felt pretty nauseated as well. Is this normal?

No, I do not get hungry in between. What are you eating for breakfast?

Hi Cassie, thanks for responding.

I ususally have 2 eggs and some breakfast meat, either breakfast steaks or "city ham." (as opposed to "country ham" city ham being the kind you would put on a sandwich)

I was wondering if something I ate for my RM at dinner time could impact my level of hunger the next day.

And of course, I'm drinking lots and lots of water.

Hey Katie,

I live in SC, too! Welcome to the forum and congrats on the loss of weight.

I don't usually get hungry either, unless it's close to my next mealtime. You may want to check the meat you're eating at breakfast and make sure there isn't any added sugar or nitrates or some other "trigger". It could also be something at RM that you are sensitive to that is giving you problems. If that is the case, you may want to reread parts of the book that deal with those problem foods and try to narrow down the problem.

Or, you also may not be getting enough fat. Are you eating low fat at all? So you use fitday.com to track your foods and calories, fat, carbs, etc.?

Thanks Tokenyanke.

I'll do some more research. I was just mostly wondering if it was possible to have something at the RM that would affect you the next day.

If we're not supposed to be so hungry between meals, then there must be something I am doing that isn't appropriate.

Back to the book!

have a nice weekend and enjoy the lovely weather we're supposed to be getting.

As a matter of fact, when I am solidly on plan, I don't get hungry much at all.....usually eat only one meal, and that's my RM. When I start wandering off plan is when I get hungry. I believe that's because of the carbs I take in when I shouldn't, and the resulting release of insulin I experience.

I'll bet there's sugar in that ham!

Why don't you try a couple-three days off of cured meats....eat eggs and cheese for brekkie, fish, steak or chicken if you like, but avoid the ham, sausage, bacon, lunch meats, that sort of thing, and see if this hunger and nausea doesn't go away?

Take care....

I have trouble with ham if it has added sugars (look for dextrose and others). If cured meats have sugar, I can only eat them safely at reward meal time, and better be sure there were no hidden sugars in breakfast or lunch that day! Since the sugar volume is tiny, I count the meat as my 1/3 protein as long as I'm positive there's no bulky carb fillers. I will usually keep my reward carb that day free of refined sugar just to be careful.

One other thing -

I found out how sugar seasoned meats affect me on the day I had sausage (all meat - no carb fillers)and green beans as my craving reducing lunch, and then had a normal reward meal that night.

That particular reward meal never caused me trouble before, but because I didn't have a full 24 hours without an insulin trigger, I was in big blood sugar trouble just like before I was on CALP. There is definitely a carryover effect for me if I don't keep a pure 24 break between carbs or act alikes. No Nutrasweet for me, except at reward meal time.
