Default dairy allergy question?

I am severly allergic to dairy/whey protien. I am finding that all the low-carb meal replacement bars are loaded with whey protien or dairy products, which I cannot eat. I need something to keep me going though through the day, but cannot seem to find any kind of meal replacement bar that is suitable for me. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what or where I can find something like this? Thanks for the help.

Star,

If the packaged products aren't good for you, perhaps you could go with something you make yourself?

The convenience foods are just that -- convenience foods.

You could make something tasty with Soy-based Protein Isolate that would be plenty nutritious but not give you the horrible allergic reaction.

Also, I have an Ultimate Lo Carb 2 bar from Biochem here that looks like it's Dairy Free. Maybe that would do ya ok.

Here's a link to it on Netrition. Check the nutrition facts on each -- they all vary.

Thank you so much for the info. Recipes for my own bars, that is a novel idea. Know all I need is a recipe to make them and I am on my way. Do you by an chance know where I can get my hands on one? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the website, didn't know it exsisted.

I just checked the ingrediants to those particular bars. They all have whey protien concentrate, which is derived from a milk protien. They would unfortunately make me sick. Thanks again for the help. Soon I will find or even invent something.

Star,

Strange. The package on my Chocolate Smores bar says only Soy Protein.

Also, the PB&J bar has no Whey Protein -- but it does have Calcium Caseinate, which is probably just as bad for you.
